The Lifestyle Practice this week is something new and different for the Whole Life Challenge — spending ten minutes in solitude. I know spending time doing nothing is something I always resist, whether it’s meditation, sitting and thinking, or going for a walk. My tendency is to convince myself that I don’t have time to “do nothing,” in spite of the fact that alone time can be so incredibly valuable.
Think of these ten minutes each day as a gift to yourself.
After that, we discuss the fact that we’re in week seven. The end of the Challenge is in sight. Now is the time to start thinking about the end and what you’re going to do when there is no longer a game to support you. How are you going to maintain your new habits and create a support system that extends beyond the end of the Challenge?
The time between Challenges is actually really valuable because it puts the burden of responsibility squarely on your shoulders. But just like with the Challenge, don’t try to get a perfect score in the off-season if that’s not right for you. Pick a couple things to be accountable for, and see if you can stick with them.
