Habits are typically cemented after thirty days of unwavering effort, and until this happens our default autopilot mode can feel disrupted, urging us to go back to our previous lifestyle — healthy or not.
My autopilot was disrupted big time when becoming conscious about food. In the beginning, none of my new practices around nutrition felt natural or easy. Yet over time, these lifestyle changes began to feel like a second skin even though nothing regarding the food I ate reflected the patterns that had been my lifestyle over forty-plus years.
