In this episode of the Whole Life Challenge interview series, I got a chance to interview Mark Sisson, author of The Primal Blueprint and the founder of Mark’s Daily Apple.

Mark’s philosophy about nutrition, health, and overall well-being is right in line with ours at Whole Life Challenge. Many of the things he told me during our conversation resonated with me, but this one in particular stands out:

“If you eat until you are full, you have gone too far,” he said. “You push the plate away and go, ‘Oh boy, I’m full.’

“If you can push it away and say, ‘That was an awesome meal, and I enjoyed every single bite, but now I am finished.’ First of all, that is a tremendous skill to develop. Second of all, it is so empowering, particularly for people who are trying to lose weight.

“If you can emerge from all of this and go, ‘You know what? Hunger no longer rules my life. Appetite doesn’t own me anymore.’

“That is such a great revelation and empowering thing to have happen.”

Mark and I covered a lot during the one-hour interview: the carb-versus-fat discussion, cholesterol, barefoot running and running shoes, compressed eating schedules, sleep habits, drug use, and alcohol.

But if someone learns that one lesson about eating so they can stop being ruled by food, I’ll be thrilled.

That is why we created the Whole Life Challenge: so you can be in charge of your choices.
